Medical-legal file preparation, with the source page in view
AirGapped Health is developing a clinic-owned appliance to help prepare clinical histories for medical-legal review. It is in development and not in clinical use.
01Preparing the file
Preparing a history means checking the file
A disclosure file can contain records out of order, repeated reports, unclear pages and conflicting dates. Preparing the history means tracing statements back to the records and making clear what still needs a person's attention.
02Page accounting
Account for the pages. Keep the evidence close.
The appliance is designed to account for every supplied page as read, unreadable or containing no clinical content. Each factual statement in the reconstructed history is intended to link to the page it came from, so a reviewer can check the evidence in context.
Page accounting does not establish that every relevant fact has been captured. The intended workflow requires a named clinician or authorized staff member to review and sign, with the signature tied to exactly what they reviewed.
03Reviewing the evidence
Keep disagreements and duplicates visible
The design calls for conflicting statements to appear side by side with their source pages. If records give different injury dates, the reviewer should be able to see both accounts and where they came from.
Repeated documents are intended to remain visible and labelled as duplicates. The assessing clinician remains responsible for interpreting the records and forming the medical opinion.
04Inside the clinic
On a machine your clinic owns
The appliance is designed to process records inside your clinic, on a machine you own, without sending them to an outside processing service. Your clinic keeps custody and control of its records.
The planned workflow takes files in and produces a PDF packet for your team to file. Support is intended to be on site, with no remote access path.
05A synthetic starting point
Start with a made-up file
Development uses synthetic documents only. A proposed trial would begin with clearly labelled, made-up examples and an agreed review process. Your team and the founder would agree what to examine and what would count as an acceptable result before starting.
Any move to real records would require a separate decision after written terms, responsibilities and the clinic's privacy and security review are settled. The product remains in development and is not in clinical use.
